Our approach

Educating the whole child

The Farmhouse Montessori School is an independent, non-denominational school on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, providing Montessori education programs for children aged 2–3, 3–6 and 6–12. We aim to provide creative and stimulating intellectual and artistic experiences at each stage of development, cultivating every child’s natural desire to learn.

Our philosophy is to teach respect — for ourselves, for others and for the environment — alongside a lifelong love of learning and genuine independence.

The primary school teaches the NSW curriculum using the Montessori method, and is registered with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

Ten reasons to choose a Montessori education

See it for yourself

Take a tour of Farmhouse Montessori.

Children here aren’t marched through the same page at the same time. The room is set up so they can follow what genuinely interests them, at the pace that suits them — and the best way to understand that is to watch it happen.

Our philosophy

Every child is different, and that is the starting point.

Each child arrives with their own personality, traits and attitudes. We take all of it into account when designing an education plan to match their individual needs — focusing not only on the academic side of school life, but on the emotional, social and physical aspects, which matter just as much.

Together those four attributes form ‘the whole child’. Each is independent, but because they overlap we look for ways to link them to curriculum outcomes: public speaking and confidence building, conflict resolution and emotional stability, physical wellness and a positive attitude.

As each child embarks on their educational journey, Farmhouse Montessori understands, observes and educates, so that every child blossoms to their full potential.

The journey forward

Enrolment for 2027

Places are limited across both campuses, for every age group from two to twelve.

  1. Book a campus tour

The best way to understand Farmhouse is to see it in action. We host regular tours of both the North Balgowlah preschool and the North Head primary campus.

  2. Initial observation & application

After your tour, you’ll be invited to submit a formal application. We’ll then arrange a time for your child to spend a morning in the classroom.

  3. Welcome to Farmhouse

Once a place is offered, we’ll walk you and your child through settling in, so the first day feels like coming back, not starting over.
